Need for Change!

I have been thinking about the word ‘Change’ for a long time and the best definition I’ve found so far is from Wikipedia, it says “Change means the process of becoming different’.

After observing people around me I have learnt that almost all of them are desperately looking for some kind of Change in their lives; for some its their lifestyle they want to change, some want to be more disciplined in life, for others its the way they dress, and then there are those who want to change the way things are going on in their life, it could be to become more effective at work, business, church etc…

I have always believed that positive ‘Change’ happens only when we make positive ‘Choices’ in life. Whatever circumstances we are in is because of the past choices we have made.

Jim Rohn, a motivational speaker and a Businessman quoted “Any day we wish; we can discipline ourselves to change it all. Any day we wish; we can open the book that will open our mind to new knowledge. Any day we wish; we can start a new activity. Any day we wish; we can start the process of life change. We can do it immediately, or next week, or next month, or next year.”

Many a times we want to see change in our lives but are we making the necessary choices that will lead us to that Change? Very often when I find myself depressed or dissatisfied with my present situation I always think about the choices I’ve made, choosing rest over labor, entertainment over education, delusion over truth, and doubt over confidence. When things don’t go right we tend to find fault in the stars and overshadow our own wrong choices.

Its not that we are not able to make better choices, yes we can. We can make the very choices that will bring happiness, life and joy into our daily lives and bring Change in our situation.

Recommend you to read the book “Make Today Count” by John Maxwell where he helps us make right choices daily. Just to give you a brief about the book, he points out 12 areas where we need to make right decisions daily, he calls it ‘The Daily Dozen’.

The list goes like this

- Attitudes
- Priorities
- Health
- Family
- Thinking
- Commitment
- Finances
- Faith
- Relationships
- Generosity
- Values
- Growth

Do read the book.Hope this article provokes to make a better you, please do send in your comments.

Change has a considerable psychological impact on the human mind. To the fearful it is threatening because it means that things may get worse. To the hopeful it is encouraging because things may get better. To the confident it is inspiring because the challenge exists to make things better.

A change is must for one’s upliftment and one’s down sitting coz in both, one learns something or the other in order to rectify and improvise himself
